NABBA USA® MEN’S PHYSIQUE OFFICIAL RULES

NABBA MEMBERSHIP

  • Active NABBA USA Membership is required for all participants.

 

Check-Ins


Competitors will be checked in and weighed upon initial competition arrival and registration.

 

Judging Criteria

Men’s Physique focuses primarily upon a composite of Muscularity & Overall Conditioning.NABBA USA

Attire

  • All Competitor Attire will be inspected upon morning check-in.

  • Board-Shorts

    • Length – Max = 3-inches ABOVE the Knee

    • Waist –  Max = 3-inches BELOW the Navel

    • Board-Short logos are not permitted, and must be removed or securely covered.

      • Official NABBA shorts coming soon.

    • Spandex are not permitted.

  • Competitors will enter the stage shirtless and barefoot.

    • No lewd acts allowed such as the moon pose, or illicit hand gestures of any kind.

Music

  • Posing music is limited to solely to Final Round events.

    • Pre-judging does not include musical aperture

  • Posing music must be on a recorded cd or approved USB device according to competition organizer.

    • Posing routine must be cued to the start of the music prior to check-in.

    • Vulgar lyrics or illicit content of any kind is not permitted.

      • Violations of music guidelines will result in disqualification.

On-Stage

  • During the Prejudging & Finals, male competitors are not permitted to wear any jewelry other than a wedding band.

  • Decorative pieces in the hair are not permitted.

  • No glasses (excluding prescription) or props are permitted onstage.

  • No chewing of gum is allowed on stage.

  • Any competitor doing the “Moon Pose” will be disqualified.

  • Lying on the floor is prohibited.

  • We expect you to act as professional on stage and to treat all competitors with respect.

  • No bumping or shoving are allowed. First and second persons involved will be disqualified.

  • Competitors numbers will be worn on the left side of the suit bottom.

  • During finals, we expect you act as adults with your placing.  No pouting, vulgar language, tossing your award, etc. is allowed.

    • Violations will result in a lifetime ban from NABBA USA®.

Back-Stage

·         Backstage access is restricted to competitors, expediters, and NABBA officials.

 

Rounds of Competition

Presentation Round:

  • Competitors will walk to the center of the stage alone and perform front and back turns with optional pose of hand on hip or hand in pocket and will finish facing the judges.

  • Competitors will then be directed to proceed to the side of the stage.

Comparison Round:

  • Competitor will be brought back out in groups, and directed by judges to do turns.

  • Judges will have the opportunity to compare competitors and make order switches to best see who stands out.

 

Competitor Classes

Organizers will have the option to choose to have any of the following classes of competitors:

1 Height Class

2 Height Classes

  • Up to & including 5’8”

  • Over 5’8”

3 Height Classes

  • Up to & including 5’7”

  • Over 5’7” up to including 5’10”

  • Over 5’10”

4 Height Classes

  • Up to & including 5’6”

  • Over 5’6” up to including 5’8”

  • Over 5’8” up to including 5’10”

  • Over 5’10”

5+ Height Classes

  • Up to & including 5’7”

  • Over 5’7” up to including 5’8”

  • Over 5’8” up to including 5’9”

  • Over 5’9” up to including 5’11”

  • Over 5’11” up to including 6′

  • Over 6′

 

Competitor Health

  • Your health is very important to us and if it appears you are disoriented, light-headed or you are experiencing serve cramping you will not be permitted to compete.

    • Any competitor disqualified for health reasons must be checked by the attending EMT and, if it is advised by the EMT, must go to the nearest hospital for evaluation.

    • Competitors who refuse to be evaluated by the EMT or at the hospital will be suspended from competition for a period of one year from the date of the occurrence.

Definition of Novice

If an competitor has placed in the top ten (10) of any national competition then the competitor is no longer considered a novice.

A true novice is an competitor that has never entered an NABBA event.

 

 

National Qualifications – Men’s Physique

  • The top three (3) in a NABBA National Qualifying Men’s Physique Contest – will automatically be qualified for NABBA USA National Shows.

  • Qualification valid for 1 year from initial competition
